KARACHI: Labourer falls to death

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 20: A man fell to death in a godown in Al-Falah Society on Friday.

Police said labourer Abdur Rauf, 50, was working at a pipe godown. He fell off the roof and died on the spot. The body was shifted to a hospital for autopsy.

WOUNDED: A middle-aged man was shot at and wounded in Pak Colony on Friday.

Police said Haji Iqbal, 50, was wounded and shifted to the Civil Hospital from where he was moved to a private hospital. The Pak Colony police expressed ignorance about the incident saying their investigation officer (IO) went to the hospital to record the statements of the wounded and his driver.

“We will be able to divulge further details about the incident after the return of the IO”, said a police official.

ATTACK: The house and offices of the Nazima of the union council (UC-9) of Orangi Town were attacked late Thursday night by the people demanding restoration of water supply in their area.

The matter was reported to the Orangi Extension police. Police inspected the office and the house of the UC-9 Nazima Shehnaz Parveen.

She said the water supply had remained suspended in her constituency for the past 20 days and the water board authorities were reluctant to restore the water supply.

She said people were in agony due to the water scarcity and had pelted her house with stones.

They then moved to her offices and damaged its furniture and computer accessories.
