Dutiable imports value up by 12pc

ISLAMABAD, June 20: The value of dutiable imports up by 12.15 per cent during 11 months of the current financial year over the corresponding period of last fiscal.

Official figures released by the Central Board of Revenue here on Friday showed the value of dutiable imports stood at Rs409.153 billion during the period under review against Rs364.819 billion of last year, showing an increase of Rs44.334 billion.

Further break-up showed the value of total imports stood at Rs672.853 billion during the 11 months of the current financial year against Rs588.965 billion over the corresponding period of last year, showing an increase of 14.24 per cent.

And the value of duty free imports stood at Rs263.7 billion during July-May 2002-03 against Rs224.146bn of last year, showing an increase of 17.64 per cent.

According to the statistics, the net collection of customs duty, including defence, stood at Rs58.705 billion during 11 months of the current financial year against Rs38.595 billion over the same period of last year, showing an increase of 52.11 per cent.
