QUETTA, June 19: Former minister Malik Gul Zaman Kasi was arrested on Thursday after his bail was cancelled by the Balochistan High Court.
A BHC bench, comprising Chief Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani, cancelled the bail earlier granted to the former minister in a corruption reference.
Accountability Court, Quetta, had awarded one-year imprisonment to him for not appearing before the court to face the corruption reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau for irregularities committed in the Quetta Development Authority plots.
The Balochistan High Court had granted him bail but on Thursday cancelled it, upon which police arrested him from the courtroom.
HUNGER STRIKE: Members of the Balochistan University Employees’ Association (BUEA) observed a token hunger strike on Thursday to protest against the attitude of the varsity’s administration.
BUEA president Shamsuddin Bungar, while presiding over a meeting of the executive council, announced to observe a token hunger strike on Thursday and said that they would continue with it till the acceptance of their demands.
AFGHANS HELD: Gwadar police have arrested six Afghan nationals who were staying in the township without legal documents.
A police official said on Wednesday that a case had been registered against them.
