KARACHI: MMA to protect Bengalis, Burmese

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 19: The Muttahida Majlis-i- Amal will raise its voice against oppression of Burmese and Bengali population and will do everything to protect their rights.

This was stated by former city mayor and MNA Abdul Sattar Afghani, who was speaking to an election meeting of the MMA candidate in the byeelection of the National Assembly constituency 255, which was organised in street-3 of the Burmi Colony in Landhi.

Mr Afghani said that the MMA stood for poor and ¨oppressed people, and added that the June 23 victory of Muhammad Aslam Mujahid in the byeelection would be the victory of the oppressed people.

Speaking on this occasion, the MMA’s candidate Aslam Mujahid said that Burmese and Bengali Muslims had given exemplary sacrifices for Pakistan. He lamented that those who were elected in the past with their votes and become ministers never took care of their voters and supporters.

MPA Maulana Ehsanullah Hazarvi said that the MMA, by enforcing the Shariat Bill in the NWFP, had proved that there was no contradiction in the MMA’s practice and preaching. The Ulema Council’s leader and Chairman Burmi Bengali, Maulana Abdul Malik, also spoke on the occasion.
