KARACHI, June 19: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Wednesday paid a visit to various parts of the city for more than three and half hours during which he spent about two hours on various roads and streets of Orangi Town.
He mixed up with the people and had a personal appraisal about the conditions in the area.
During the visit, the governor was accompanied by his advisor Saeed Mazhar Ali, city Nazim Naimatullah Khan, DCO Mir Hussain Ali and other officials.
MQM MPA Abdul Quddus also joined the governor’s motorcade on his motorcycle and kept informing him about the problems of various areas.
On arrival of the governor, people came out in large numbers and gave him a warm welcome.
Dr Ibad kept reviewing the conditions while walking through the roads and streets and even went inside some areas.
He expressed concern over the prevailing conditions of the area and observed that people of Orangi Town and such other areas of the province were living their lives without even basic facilities.
He said those people too were the residents of the city and the province, and basic amenities were their right. He said people of the province should get equal facilities.
The people informed the governor of their problems of health, education, water and other amenities.
Dr Ishrat assured that work on the improvement of those areas would start within six weeks. He drew the attention of the city Nazim and the DCO towards the problems needing immediate solution.
During his visit, he kept contacting the city police chief and other officials over the telephone and issued directives to them in connection with the solution of the problems.
The governor also paid a surprise visit to the orangi police station and expressed dissatisfaction over its working and directed that the crime-chart and other details be displayed conspicuously and effective action be taken against narcotic and gambling dens and robbers.
Dr Ibad observed that the staff of the police investigation branch were not seen working in any police station. He directed the authorities to examine the performance of the branch staff.
He also inspected the work on the girls college. He issued directives for making the water pump at Urdu Chowk operative.
The governor also visited Baldia, SITE, Pak Colony, Nazimabad and Garden, and reviewed public facilities, roads and construction projects.—APP
