STA to stage five events


KARACHI, June 18: The Sindh Tennis Association (STA) has planned to organise five back-to-back tournaments at different venues during June and July, said secretary STA Khalid Rehmani on Wednesday.

There was a busy schedule ahead of the association and all the five tournaments will be held during summer vacations.

He said that a large number of participants were expected in the tournament as the tournaments were arranged in summer vacations so that the junior participants face no difficulties.

STA secretary said that the first Caltex Open, Sindh ranking event, would be held from June 22 to June 30 at Modern Club, Karachi and around 100 players are likely to compete.

Second would be the All Pakistan Junior Championship to be held from July 1 to July 6 which will be Under-12, Under-14, Under-16 Pakistan ranking tournament.

The third tournament in will be held from July 6 to July 12 named as Talent Hunt Sindh Ranking Tournament.

National Under-18 tournament of the series will be held from July 12 to July 18. Both girls and boys in singles and doubles events will compete in the tournament.

Arrangements for the fifth event to be held in Quetta are not finalised, he said and added that STA has also arranged the sponsors for the tournaments.—PPI
