JACOBABAD, June 17: The executive engineer, Hesco, Wapda, Dilawar Hasnain Memon, has said that the power supply to 1,200 consumers in Jacobabad city and 51 villages in the suburbs of Jacobabad has been disconnected due to non-payment of bills.

He was talking to newsmen at the Jacobabad Press Club on Monday.

He said the power supply was also disconnected to 17 villages in Thul, whereas the transformers of 13 villages had been removed.

Giving details of outstanding dues against various departments, the XEN said that the Municipal Committee, Jacobabad, owed Hesco a sum of Rs31.38 million, Town Committees Rs5.94 million, the district council Rs2.17 million, the public health department Rs26.94 million, the Bureau of Supplies Rs0.32 million, the Building division Rs0.38 million, the Statistical office Rs0.84 million and the police department Rs4.08 million.

The XEN, however, made it clear that strict action would be taken against the power thieves.

LARKANA, The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company, Larkana circle, on Tuesday disconnected power supply to seven telephone exchanges for non-payment of dues.

An amount of Rs18.4 million is outstanding against these exchanges.

The superintendent engineer of Hesco, Larkana circle, Nazeer Hussain Shaikh, told this correspondent that power supply to Larkana, divisions I and II, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Warah, Kambr, Shahdadkot and Nasirabad exchanges was disconnected as several cheques of the PTCL had been bounced.

He said power connections of 418 government schools and 250 connections of the public health department had also been disconnected for non-payment of dues.
