PESHAWAR, June 17: Private schools in the city, especially those having branches across the country, are continuing with the practice of charging two-month (summer vacation) tuition fee from students in advance.

These advance payments have become a burden on parents as nowadays the fees of schools are very high.

“My daughter is in nursery class of a private school and I have paid Rs1,890 in advance for next two months while Rs2,900 for my son’s fee, who is in class one,” a parent told Dawn.

Though some MPAs had raised a point in the provincial assembly against the private schools charging two-month fees in advance, NWFP Education Minister Fazli Ali did not discuss the issue while Minister for Food, Excise and Taxation Fazal Rabbani defended private schools in the house. According to an MPA, the minister himself ran a private school.
