ISLAMABAD, June 17: Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam) president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that the move for tabling a no-trust motion against the speaker will be a useless exercise.
In a statement on Tuesday, the PML-Q chief said that instead of confrontation, the opposition should adhere to realities and play its positive role for strengthening the democratic institutions.
He said the opposition pressed the speaker for giving his ruling on an issue and when he had given it, the opposition started using “filthy” language against the chair, which would not be tolerated.
Mr Hussain said the speaker being a custodian of the House was bound to give his ruling on the motion tabled by the opposition members.
He asked the opposition to bring the issues into the House for debate instead of voicing against the speaker.
The government, he said, would take part in the debate with open heart as it intended to keep the opposition with it.
Earlier, German Ambassador Dr Christopher Brummer called on him at his residence on Tuesday.
The PML-Q leader expressed hope that President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s visit to Germany would strengthen friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
He said Pakistani parliamentarians would visit Germany as a friendship group.
