BAHAWALPUR, June 16: Sharp differences have cropped up among local lawyers over the LFO issue.
Dawn learnt here on Monday that a majority of High Court and District Bars’ members were opposed to the LFO.
Bahawalpur Bar Association president Malik Nazar Hussain is supported by District Bar Association secretary-general Sardar M Asif Khan for his pro-LFO stance. While both district bar president and high court bar secretary-general are reportedly opposing the government on the LFO issue.
It may be mentioned that the Bahawalpur bar president along with the DBA secretary-general had called on President Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad sometime back.
It is learnt that this group is trying to fill vacant vacancies of law officers with lawyers supporting the government on the LFO issue.
POISONED: A woman along with her lover allegedly poisoned to death her husband Peer Bakhsh on Monday at Mauza Abdullahpur in the limits of Nowshera Jadid police station.
Police have registered a case against Zarina and her lover Abdul Rashid on the complaint of deceased’s mother.
TWO DROWN: Two persons drowned in the canal in different incidents here on Monday.
Jam Faiz Bakhsh (70) of Mauza Miani drowned while taking bath in the canal. His body was later recovered.
Muhammad Iqbal of Basti Radan was standing on the bank when he slipped and fell into the canal and drowned.
MURDERED: A woman, the mother of four children, was allegedly murdered by her two cousins in her house near Masjid Khizra in Model Town B here on Monday.
