KARACHI, June 15: Unchecked population growth, industrialization and deforestation, were adversely affecting earth’s climate, opined speakers at a three-day exhibition of meteorological equipments, inaugurated on Sunday at the Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics, Meteorological Department, Met Complex.

The experts said these problems, if not managed, would continue to disturb the natural balance among the earth, atmosphere and the sea.

Speakers also stressed upon forging co-operation between the Met office and various organizations, looking after the welfare of the people.

Mr H U Qidwai, a retired senior director of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, was the chief guest on the occasion.

The exhibition is being organised in connection with the World Meteorological Day, with theme of ‘Our Future Climate’, which has been highlighted through computer graphics and posters.

More than 50 devices and dozens of posters, related to earth climate were put on display at the exhibition, which attracted, a large number of people. — PPI/APP
