Private college banner irks BISE chief

By A Correspondent

MULTAN, June 14: Display of a banner of a private college at the Multan Board auditorium, where the ceremony for announcement of secondary school examination result was held, has irked the BISE chief as he has sought written explanation from the responsible officials as to how it happened.

The auditorium was jampacked on Saturday with parents and candidates aspiring to get admission in colleges while a large size banner of a private computer college was hanging behind the stage inviting students to join its various courses.

The board presented gift hampers to the position-holders and the official conducting the stage gave out the names of sponsors who supplied the gifts but the name of the private college which used the occasion for its publicity was even missing in the list of sponsors.

When contacted, Multan BISE chairman Mian Arif Salim said he was also surprised to see the banner in the auditorium but none of his subordinates could give a reason why it was hanging in the auditorium.

He said no private institution was allowed to use the board premises for its publicity and it was sheer negligence on the part of the organizers of the ceremony.

The chairman said he was holding an inquiry into the matter and responsible officials would be penalized.
