LAHORE, June 13: The second Morocco Cup cricket tournament scheduled to be held from Aug 3-13 at Tangier has been postponed.
A spokesman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Friday that the organisers of the tournament, Cricketers Benefit Fund Series (CBFS), has informed them regarding postponement of the event due to unavoidable circumstances.
“We donot know the new dates as the CBFS has not given fresh schedule of the tournament”, he said.
Sharjah-based CBFS discovered a new cricket centre in North Africa, Morocco where Pakistan Sri Lanka and South Africa participated in the inaugural event. South Africa won the competition.
Moroccan city Casablanca was rocked by bomb blasts last month. The likely cause of the postponement of the tournament is the security concern expressed by the invited sides, barring Pakistan. Besides the teams also declined to take part because of their prior commitments.
“We confirmed our participation and we were all set to take part but now we will wait to play home series against Bangladesh and South Afrcia from August to October”, he said.—APP
