KASUR, June 13: Six persons were killed while dozens fell unconscious in and around the city due to hot and dry weather during the last 24 hours.

Of those who died of heatstroke, Mohammad Ramzan (36) of Chunian had come to the court of senior civil judge here for recording his statement in a case, Qurban Ali of Pattoki was purchasing some goods in Dalgiran Bazaar and elderly Rasulan Bibi was coming from Raiwind by a wagon (KSA-3977).

Shafiqur Rehman (29) of Kot Azam Khan, Mohammad Sadiq of Phool Nagar and Mohammad Mumtaz of Sarai Mughal also died of heatstroke.

39 BOOKED: Following an irrigation department raid at Chak-15 in Chunian, 39 farmers were booked by the Chunian police for stealing canal water.

According to department officials, they had tried to get the farmers booked many times but failed due to political pressure.
