LAHORE, June 11: The teachers of all technical education institutions under the banner of the United Teachers Association on Wednesday resolved to continue their protest against Tevta administration’s decision to hold pedagogy training in summer vacation.

In a protest meeting at the Government College of Technology, Railway Road, chaired by UTA president Muhammad Tariq, teachers said that they wanted to avail full summer vacation and go for pedagogy training after the summer break.

Later, a UTA delegation met Punjab industries secretary Shahid Rashid and apprised him of the unjustified attitude of the Tevta administration.

Consequently, Mr Rashid sent a letter to the Tevta chairman, saying that the teaching staff of various technical institutions transferred to the authority had represented to the government that they had not been allowed the facility of summer vacation as was admissible to them previously.

He said that all these employees had the privilege to avail leave rules, including summer vacation. The Tevta terms and conditions also offered not less favourable than those admissible to them before their transfer to the authority.

He said the authority should take necessary action to observe the terms and conditions of deputation to allow the teaching staff leave/vacation to which they were entitled.
