Operation launched to arrest criminals

QUETTA, June 10: Police and other law enforcement agencies on Tuesday launched an operation in the Nasirabad distrcit and adjoining areas against a gang of dacoits involved in the killing of the deputy inspector-general of police, Sibi range.

DIG Abdul Aziz Billo was gunned downed with his security guard and two other policemen on Monday night. He was on his way to Bhag to see an SHO and four other policemen who were injured by armed men when they were patrolling between Bhag and Dera Murad Jamali.

Sources said a dacoit, Sabir Jaibani, was killed in exchange of fire with the law enforcement agencies.

The police of Sibi, Nasirabad, and Jafarabad districts are chasing the dacoits who had fled after killing the officials.

Police officials said the gang of dacoits involved in the attack had been identified and encircled. They said three parties of law enforcement agencies were carrying out the operation.

Balochistan Police Inspector-General Dr Shoaib Suddle has declared emergency in the Nasirabad district and sent heavy contingent of police for the operation against dacoits.

DIG Abdul Aziz was laid to rest in Billo town near Ghotki on Tuesday. Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousaf attended the funeral.

YOUSAF: Earlier, the chief minister had told newsmen here that the DIG was not killed in a terrorist or sectarian attack.

Talking to newsmen at an Imambargah after meeting the relatives of the police trainees killed in an attack on the Sariab Road, he said those who murdered DIG and other policemen would soon be apprehended as the administration had identified the tribe of the dacoits.

Meanwhile, Quetta District Police Officer Rehmatullah Khan Niazi said three persons nominated by a police trainee injured in the Sariab Road attack on Sunday had been arrested.

He said the alleged accused were affiliated with the defunct Lashkar-i-Jhangvi.
