KARACHI, June 10: Sindh Education Minister, Irfanullah Khan Marwat has pledged to establish schools, computer and vocational centres for children of labourers in Landhi and Sultanabad.
Speaking at the annual convention of the Rural Development Association (RDA) at Kachi Memon Hall Saddar on Tuesday, the minister informed that the government had considerably increased the education budget for promotion of education so that children of rural areas of the province could also get better opportunities.
The chairman of RDA, Waseem Taj and general secretary, Zardar Abbasi, said that their association was serving the poor students by providing them financial support and education free of cost.
They said that 300 students were being provided free education in Oshan School, Labour Colony Landhi and 150 students were getting education in Sultanabad’s school while 80 students were being imparted computer education.
The chairman informed that RDA was planning to establish vocational schools for girls as well.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Shahri Ittehad Committee, headed by Maulana Hanif Jilani, called on the education minister.
Briefing the minister about the provision of free education to the poor student, they said that the committee was working on different schemes for the promotion of education in the city. They informed that girls would be benefited by the functioning of Fatima Jinnah Girls College in the month of August.
The minister assured the delegation that government would cooperate in the promotion of education and would try to solve the problems being faced in the promotion of education. He maintained that cooperation with NGOs and community in promotion of education was the top priority of government.—PPI
