KARACHI, June 9: Top seeds Farjad Saif and Ghazala Roohi will be the defending their titles in the 3rd Mirza Almas Ali Baig Masters Cup table tennis tournament to be held here at Islamia Club from June 11 to 14.

The details of the tournament were announced on Monday at a press briefing.

Allied Bank will be the defending champions in both men’s and women’s event for which the organizers are offering Rs.25,000

The men’s teams competing in the tournament according to the ranking of 42nd National Table Tennis Championship at Lahore are ABL, Pak Wapda, HBL, ADBP, Pak PWD, Lahore, Faislabad and Karachi.

The women’s teams participating in the tournament are HBL, Pak Wapda, ABL and Pakistan Army.

Following is the list of top 32 individual man players eligible to participate in the tournament.

SADIQABAD: The vice-president of Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) and international umpire, Ifitikhar -ul-Haq is the first Pakistani to be elected member of the technical committee of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).

Iftikhar-ul-Haq’s membership tenure is from June 1 this year to June 30, 2005. He was elected member of the ITTF technical committee by a majority vote at a meeting in France held soon after the world table tennis championship.—PPI/APP
