CHELMSFORD (England), June 9: Former Zimbabwe Test star Andy Flower stroked an unbeaten 115 as Essex piled up 284 for six in the day-night one-day game against Pakistan here on Monday.
The tourists, who struggled to beat Scotland by one wicket on Saturday, were unable to contain Flower as he unleashed 11 fours in his 128-ball innings.
Jamie Foster, the wicket-keeper who lost his England place recently, nudged the selectors with a 67-ball knock of 56 while putting on 90 for the second wicket with Flower. His innings was laced with four fours and one six.
Flower, who retired from international cricket after the World Cup, shared another useful partnership of 95 with Bopara (46).
For Pakistan, opening bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Sami playing their first game of the tour, claimed two wickets each. Off-spinner Shoaib Malik also captured two wickets.
