US envoy calls on Senate chairman

ISLAMABAD, June 9: The US ambassador, Nancy Powell, called on Senate Chairman Mohammadmian Soomro here on Monday.

She was accompanied by Mark S. Ward, mission director of the USAID in Pakistan.

According to a press release, the US ambassador and Senate chairman discussed matters relating to mutual interests and bilateral cooperation with special reference to the USAID projects in Pakistan.

Mr Soomro briefed the ambassador about capacity building programmes and infrastructure facilities being provided to the members of Parliament in the field of computerization and networking with a view to improve the quality of feed-back and research.

The possibilities of cooperation between USAID and Senate of Pakistan and the technical assistance to be provided by the agency for this purpose were also discussed at the meeting.
