KARACHI: PS clarifies position

KARACHI, June 9: The Pakistan Steel, referring to a news item in Dawn’s issue of June 7, has clarified that investigations, with regard to the accident mentioned in the news item, were carried out at the ministry level, and it was confirmed that it was merely an industrial accident, common in iron and steel industry, the world over, not involving any human error.

“Therefore there was no justification in demand raised for the removal of any official or any other inquiry. Unfortunately, the vested interests, who have not taken too kindly to the recent phenomenal turnaround and corporate successes of Pakistan Steel continue to politicize the simple tragic event only to raise controversies and obtain political mileage out of it,” added the clarification.
