Greene settles for third in 200m

PALO ALTO (California), June 8: American Maurice Greene, his sights set on a 100 and 200 metres double at the World Athletics Championships in Paris later this year, finished third in a 200 metres won by compatriot Joshua Johnson here on Saturday in the US Open athletics meeting, part of the IAAF Grand Prix II series.

Johnson used a strong final 100 metres to steal the victory in 20.26 seconds.

John Capel, the 2000 Olympic Trials champion, moved up to second in 20.42 seconds with Greene suffering from a slow start and not finding his form, placing third in 20.43 seconds. 2001 US outdoor champion Shawn Crawford led early before fading to fourth in 20.47 seconds.—AFP
