Greens bag LCCA U-19 crown

LAHORE, June 8: East Zone Greens won the LCCA Under-19 cricket tournament title, defeating West Zone Blues by six wickets in the final at the LCCA ground on Sunday.

Chasing a meagre target of 133, East Zone achieved it in 35.4 overs scoring 133 for four. Openers Shahzad Siddique, who scored 36 with five boundaries and Fahad-ul-Haq who made 35 gave the winners a fine opening partnership of 79. Fahad cracked four fours. Atif Ejaz with 23 was the other main contributor.

Leg-spinner Asim Naseer picked up two for 23 for the losers.

Earlier, Kashif Mahmood (38) and Abid Ali (26) were the only two main contributors for West Zone which slumped at 132 in 40 overs.

Leg-spinner Asif Khan bowled with tidy length and captured three for 19. Another leg-spinner Irfan Ismail snared two for 17.
