LAHORE, June 8: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had sent best available coaches to Bangladesh and there was no political influence in their selection.
A PCB official while denying a charge levelled by the Bangladesh Cricket Board review committee, which reviewed the Bangladesh’s dismal performance in the World Cup and attributed it to the poor coaching of the Pakistani coaches, clarified that Bangladesh had requested PCB to provide only the best coaches and “we fulfilled that demand by sending Ali Zia and Mohsin Kamal as two best coaches from Pakistan”.
Ali, the batting coach, and bowling coach Mohsin coached Bangladesh during the World Cup, but the minnows failed to win any match. Talking to reporters on Sunday, PCB chief executive Ramiz Raja said that all foreign coaches who toured Pakistan in the past rated Ali and Mohsin as the best. Both also got ‘A’ Grade in the courses conducted by the foreign coaches, he said.
Ramiz said that it was the internal matter of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
The review committee had observed that both the coaches were highly paid but they did not do enough for the improvement of the team’s performance.
