Two dacoits killed in separate shootouts

SHEIKHUPURA, June 8: Two dacoits were killed in separate incidents here on Sunday morning.

A dacoit was killed in an encounter with villagers in Budan, Saddar.

Three masked dacoits were entering the outhouse of Gulo Rajput when some passersby raised an alarm. Many villagers equipped with arms reached the spot and exchanged fire with the bandits. As a result, one of the dacoits later identified as Falak Sher died instantly, while two others managed to escape.

Muridke Saddar police are investigating.

In another incident, one dacoit was killed and another injured near Qila Sattar Shah.

Six armed men were about to flee after looting Rs30,000 in cash, a gun and valuables from a steel mills when the watchman challenged them. The dacoits opened fire which was retaliated by the watchman. One of the bandits, Liaquat, died on the spot, while his accomplice, Manzoor, sustained injuries.

Two of the dacoits, Naim and Ghafoor, were overpowered by the watchman and factory workers and handed over to police, while two others managed to escape.

Factory Area police are investigating.
