Shujaat opposed to Shariat bill

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, June 6: President and parliamentary leader of PML-Q Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has taken exception to the passage of Shariat bill by the NWFP Assembly.

Speaking to newsmen at his residence on Thursday, Mr Shujaat said the federal government had already formulated laws in accordance with the recommendations of the Council of Islamic Ideology, implementation of which was in progress.

“Hence,” he said, “other provinces have no need to present the Shariat bill in their respective assemblies.”
