KARACHI, June 5: Residents of Baghdadi Union Council in Lyari Town have expressed resentment over undue delay in road repair work in the locality.
They urged the city and town officials to resume repair works on these two important arteries in the locality which are in a dilapidated condition and need urgent repairs.
They said the condition of Shah Latif Bhittai Road and Fidha Husain Road had been deteriorating for the past many years.
Faced with shortage of funds and keeping in view the mounting public pressure, a few months back the administration of the town had asked the city government to include five major roads of the town in its ongoing development schemes.
The roads were identified Shah Latif Bhittai Road, Chawkiwara Road, Tannery Road, Shah Waliullah Road and Sheedi Village Road.
Area people said no repair work had been carried out on Fidha Husain Shaika Road during the last 10 years because of the indifferent attitude of the authorities.
As a result, potholes have developed at various places which have rendered it unworthy for motorists.
The road links Mauripur Road with Sheedi Village Road. It begins from the People’s Playground and after passing through Nawabad, Daryabad, Baghdadi terminates at Sheedi village road.
The road is very important for the residents as it is the shortest route for them to reach Karachi Fish Harbour and Mauripur Road.
