PCB in search of ideal captain

By Our Correspondent

PESHAWAR, June 3: Ramiz Raja, the chief executive of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) claimed on Tuesday that the board is working on a plan to find a good captain who could get the best out of available talent, face the press and build the image of the team at both national and international levels.

Speaking at the ‘Meet the Press’ programme of Peshawar Press Club, Ramiz said since the retirement of Imran Khan, the captaincy issue had always been a problem.

“A few names are being considered of which one will be nominated as captain, who would be imparted crash courses and 5-6 months training on how to conduct himself on and off the field, grant interviews and handle the press at both national  and international level,” he said.

He refuted the impression that NWFP’s players were being given step-motherly treatment with regard to their selection in the national team. “We have to select the best 11 players from the available pool who could be from any part of the country.”
