LANDI KOTAL, June 3: Two persons were killed and another was seriously injured on Tuesday in an armed clash between two rival tribal groups in a remote village in the Tirah Valley.

The Gharsaney faction of the Storikhel tribe had a land dispute with their rivals from the Mamoon area.

On Tuesday morning, a gunbattle began between the groups as soon as they encountered each other near Mamoon resulting in the death of Tawkal Khan and Gulmat while Zal Khan sustained serious bullet injuries.

The injured person was later shifted to the local civil hospital for treatment.

Later, a jirga effected a cease fire between the two groups.
