Govt striving to make education accessible to all: Zobaida
ISLAMABAD, June 2: Pakistan is making considerable progress in promoting education in the country.
This was stated by Unicef Country Representative Ibraheem Jaber during a meeting with the federal education minister, Zobaida Jalal, here on Monday.
The Unicef country representative appreciated the efforts of the government in making education accessible to all and assured that Unicef and its aid agencies would continue supporting Pakistan in the education sector.
Mr Jaber told the minister that he would urge both Unicef and all the donor agencies including USAID to continue their support and assistance to Pakistan.
He said Unicef was satisfied with the spending of grants and aid given to the education ministry for disbursement among different sectors.
Earlier, Zobaida Jalal briefed Mr Jaber on the projects and plans evolved by the education ministry, and their implementation at grass roots level.
The minister said the government was taking several steps to eliminate child labour from the country. Under the Education Sector Reforms, the primary objective of the government is to make education accessible to all, she added.
