KARACHI, June 2: Well-known poet Shaheen Bader died here on Sunday after a prolonged illness. He was 67.

Born in Bhagalpur (Bihar, India) in 1936, he came to Karachi from former East Pakistan in 1971. After doing his graduation, he joined the teaching profession. He also launched a literary magazine, Azm-i-Nau from Dhaka. His first poetry collection, Zard mausam ki hawa, was published a few years back. His second poetry collection, Andherey mein gum asman, will be published posthumously soon.

The late Shaheen Bader was also co-editor of a literary journal, Khayal. He leaves a widow, two sons and three daughters.

Qurankhwani and Soyem will be held on Tuesday at Masjid Siddiqui Akber, Nagan Chowrangi, between Asr and Maghrib prayers.—HA
