Match-winning knock by Imran

KARACHI, May 31: A superb unbeaten knock of 65 by Mohammad Imran helped A.J. Worldwide qualify for the final of the 12th Hinopak Trophy KCCA inter-firm cricket tournament at UBL Sports Complex here on Friday.

A.J. Worldwide upset a star-studded Karachi Port Trust by seven wickets in the second semifinal. In the other semifinal played on Thursday, Defence Housing Authority (DHA) reached their second successive final with 20-run victory over City District Government Karachi (CDGK).

Batting first, KPT were all out for 187 in 48.4 overs. Faisal Mirza top-scored with 58, including four boundaries.

Leg-spinner Mansoor Ahmed captured three for 45 while off-spinner Atif Maqbool snared three for 63. Medium-pacers Imranullah (two for 14) and Mohammad Imran (one for 29) also bowled well.

A.J. Worldwide found no terror in the pitch and reached their target comfortably in 48.1 overs by making 188 for three, thanks to two useful partnerships.

Imranullah (43 with two fours) and former Pakistan wicket-keeper Javed Qadeer (38) added 60 for the second wicket. Mohammad Imran, who struck a brace of sixes and as many fours in his 65, then shared an unbroken fourth-wicket stand worth 62 with Talha Khan (27).

Afterwards Mohammad Imran was declared Man-of-the-Match for his all-round performance.
