Nawab on course for another victory
KARACHI, May 31: The nine -year-old bay horse Nawab, splendidly ridden by jockey Arshad last week. is poised to register another victory, when the Gymkhana Race Meeting gets under way on Sunday at the Karachi Racecourse.
Contesting in the fifth event in a big field of 18 runners going over five furlongs, Nawab should be chased all the way to the winning post by Burning Sky and Robalto Carlos Fan.
All in all only seven events have been drawn up on the racing programme, all going over the sprinting distance of five furlongs.
The first race begins at 1-30 p.m.
Another contender that should not lose on Friday is the four-year-old bay colt Shah Khan. Owned by Mohammad Ali Khan, Shah Khan has won his last four outings under jockey Tariq Mehmood and will be going all out to make it five wins in a row, although in another big field with 18 runners in contention in the sixth race.
If all goes well, Shah Khan should be followed home by Golden Voice, Flying Bird with Sano Ki Rani joining the fray.
In the opener, Mrs. Yasmin K. Khan’s five-year-old thoroughbred Dauntless, should gallop home to victory, followed by Even Top and Law Of Nature.
In the second race with only 10 runners in contention, M/s. Zainab Ali & Miss Imam Ali’s bay Royal Wisdom from champion trainer Taj Mohammad’s yard, should make up for last week’s miserable run and pass the winning post ahead of keen challengers Royal Beauty, Rukhsar and Baby Tabassum.
The next race seems reserved for Syed Ali Gohar Shah’s bay Dr. Dre, although Yaqoob Choice and Your Pleasure will be going all out to prove this column wrong.
If all goes well, Canon Again a four-year-old bay filly trained by A. Ghani, should provide another winner for Miss Zainab Ali & Iman Ali, beating off a keen challenge from Trust Me, Ustadoon Ka Ustad and Sonia.
The three-year-old chestnut filly with perhaps jockey Muzaffar Hussain once again in the saddle, is tipped to register another triumph for owner M. Ashraf Kothari, with Guarantee, Sarazan and Wing Commander all going out keep Strike The Gold in check.
