TOBA TEK SINGH, May 30: The power supply to Toba Tek Singh, Gojra and surrounding areas was suspended when fire broke out early Friday morning in Gojra grid station.

The electricity supply to Toba Tek Singh was restored after about two-hour from the Chichawatni-Multan main power line while the firefighters of Gojra and nearby towns took five hours in dousing the fire.

However, the power supply to Gojra and surrounding areas could not be restored till the filing of this report.

The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company chief engineer and Jhang superintending engineer hastened to the spot and ordered an inquiry to find out the cause of the fire. The loss of cables and property was estimated at about Rs1 million.

CRUSHED: A man was crushed to death by a train on Friday near Chak 259-GB on the Toba-Shorkot Cantonment railway track.

The deceased was deaf and dumb and could not hear the siren of the approaching goods train while crossing the railway track. The identity of the deceased could not be established.
