Three tribesmen shot dead

SUKKUR, May 30: Three members of the Chachar tribe were shot dead and several others injured when another group of the tribe ambushed them in the Daim Khan Chachar village in the Sukkur district on Friday.

Two factions of the Chachar tribe were dagger drawn for the last one year over a murder of two persons belonging to the Allah Rakhio group.

On Friday, a Jirga was held in Pano Akil for settling the dispute but its verdict would be announced on Sunday.

As the people belonging to the Gulzar Chachar group were returning from the Jirga, armed men of their rival group opened fire on them as a result Gulzar Chachar, his son Ghulam Hyder Chachar alias Fauji and Shafi Mohammad Chachar were killed on the spot and several others injured.

Names of those injured could not be immediately ascertained.

Tension has mounted in the area after the incident and the police have adopted special security measures to prevent further bloodshed.

The area police said that Gulzar and his son were wanted in dozen of cases of heinous crime including those of murder and kidnapping.
