KARACHI: Baitul Hamza set up at new place

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, May 30: Following the demolition of their party headquarters, Baitul Hamza, by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-dominated provincial government, the Mohajir Qaumi Movement has set up a new temporary party headquarter in a nearby house, and also named it Baitul Hamza.

The new Baitul Hamza is located in House 649 in C-1 area, adjacent to the house where MQM chief Mr Afaq Ahmad lived.

Talking to newsmen at the new party office, Haqiqi’s candidate for the NA-255 bye-election, Syed Abid Jafri, said the Muttahida, which was obsessed with the politics of vengeance, would never succeed in its effort to wipe out the Mohajir Qaumi Movement.

As Mr Jafri was expressing his views, women activists of his party chanted anti-government and anti-Muttahida slogans, and vowed to turn every house in the area into a Baitul Hamza. Mr Jafri declared that their activists were putting up boards of Baitul Hamza on their houses.

He said despite the High Court’s stay order against the demolition, which had been delivered to the authorities concerned, the demolition process had continued. He added that the Sindh governor and the provincial government were responsible for that.

Mr Jafri alleged that the people of the area had been under siege for months. He also thanked the ARD for supporting him in the byelection.

Meanwhile, Mr Afaq Ahmad deplored the attitude of the government and its security agencies, and asked his supporters to keep their cool. He also thanked the ARD for their support.
