Cameras being installed at all public places

ISLAMABAD, May 29: Cameras are being installed at all important buildings and public places in the capital due to security reasons, sources in the interior ministry told Dawn on Wednesday.

The sources said the interior ministry had advised different government departments to install cameras on their premises to avoid chances of terrorism. In this connection, cameras have been installed at the buildings of Central Board of Revenue (CBR), Supreme Court of Pakistan, National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Foreign Office, Pakistan Television Headquarters, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation and many other departments, the sources said.

Meanwhile, a police official said the local administration had taken special security steps in the capital. Explaining the security arrangements, he said, the number of police pickets in the city had been increased and security beefed up around diplomatic area, residences of foreigners, worship places, markets and public spots.

He said police had also been deployed at all important entry and exit points in the capital. He said police patrolling had also been intensified in the capital and proper checking of vehicles had been ensured during the night hours.

He said community participation was imperative for the maintenance of security. He appealed to the community leaders, teachers and parents to join hands with the police in improving law and order.
