PESHAWAR, May 29: An amount of Rs30 million was distributed among the religious seminaries of the province from the Zakat fund at a ceremony held at Nishtar Hall on Wednesday.

Similarly, an amount of Rs14.9 million was also distributed among 1,152 deserving people of the Peshawar district under the rehabilitation programme launched by the government.

Senior Minister Sirajul Haq was the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Zakat and Ushr Hafiz Hashmat Khan said that the Shariat Bill, tabled in the provincial assembly, would be passed by a big majority.

The present government, he said had been mandated by the people of the province for the enforcement of Shariat, and everybody would be provided equal opportunities in education, health, economics and other social sectors. He pledged that Madaris would be provided all out support enabling them to spread the message of Islam.
