Rumsfeld unhurt in traffic accident

WASHINGTON, May 27: US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld’s car was involved in a minor traffic crash on Tuesday as he rode to nearby Andrews Air Force Base in a motorcade, the Defense Department said.

A vehicle that was not in the motorcade apparently spun out of control and bumped the front end of Mr Rumsfeld’s official car, according to Defense Department spokesman Glenn Flood. He said Mr Rumsfeld got into a back-up vehicle and continued to the base, where he flew to New York for a speech to the Council on Foreign Relations.

“Nobody was hurt.” Flood said.—Reuters
