Inzamam and Shoaib only Pakistanis in world ranking


ISLAMABAD, May 26: Inzamamul Haq is Pakistan’s best-ranked batsman and Shoaib Akhter the best bowler under international seedings.

They are Pakistan’s only two cricketers named amongst the top-10 of each category in the seedings announced by “Wisden”, according to a report available here Monday.

Inzamamul Haq is placed 8th amongst the top-10 of the world’s batsmen while Shoaib Akhter occupies the same position amongst the bowlers.

Michael Vaughan has relinquished his title as the top-ranked batsman in Test cricket, following his failure during England’s innings victory over Zimbabwe at Lord’s.

Vaughan managed just eight runs in his only innings of the match, and Australia’s Matthew Hayden has moved ahead of him by a single point, thanks to his century in the final Test against West Indies in Antigua last week.

Shaun Pollock of South Africa, who arrives in England in June to compete in a five-Test series for South Africa, remains at the top of the bowling stak es, ahead of Australia’s Glenn McGrath.
