RAWALPINDI, May 26: Tehsil Nazim Raja Hamid Nawaz has asked the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) officials to ensure that the Marriage Act is strictly adhered to by the people.

In this connection, a clear action plan has been devised which will be implemented in letter and spirit.

Under the plan, different committees will be formed at the union council level to keep all records of marriages taking place in their respective areas.

The secretaries of each union council will act as conveners of the committees. They will be responsible for keeping the Tehsil committee informed about the records of marriages in their respective jurisdictions. The committees and other staff of the union councils will ensure that only drinks and one dish are served to the guests in marriage functions.

Those violating the rules will be liable to a fine of Rs0.1 million.
