SHEIKHUPURA, May 26: An outlaw was shot dead while one of his accomplices was taken into custody on Monday after an encounter in Kasoki near Sheikhupura-Hafizabad Road, some 35kms away from here.

A patrol party of the Saddar Circle police spotted three men riding on a motorcycle. As the policemen signalled them to stop, the armed men opened fire on law enforcers. The policemen, already on the alert, returned the fire, killing one of the outlaws instantly. Later, police with the help of nearby villagers, who gathered there after listening to gun shots, arrested another dacoit after one-hour shootout. However, their third accomplice managed to escape from the scene. The dead dacoit was later identified as Ihsan.

Saddar police have registered a case and are investigating.
