Water shortage resented

By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, May 25: The government has failed to provide basic amenities to the masses in general and the business community in particular despite massively taxing them, President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Osman Khalid Waheed said on Sunday.

Talking to a delegation of local businessmen, he said the government was generating a huge amount of revenue from the industrial sector in terms of sales tax, income tax, EOBI and other contributions, but has failed to provide basic needs to the public.

“Since the people are paying taxes to the government, it is the duty of the government to provide basic amenities to the masses,” he added.

He stated this while expressing concern over the shortage of water in the city and parts of cantonment area, particularly in the Westridge.

Mr Waheed said it was the responsibility of the concerned civic department to ensure uninterrupted water supply to the people.
