SIALKOT, May 25: The Asian Development Bank will establish a water treatment plant at a cost of Rs1.6 billion at the under-construction Sialkot Tanneries Zone near Sambrial, Sialkot-Wazirabad Road.
A press release quoted an ADB delegation as saying that the project would help clean industrial effluent. The delegation, headed by Rone Stream, met the local exporters at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Sunday.
The ADB has sought a feasibility report from the chamber to start working on the project.
The delegation appreciated the industrialists’ efforts to promote exports and assured them cooperation in developing the cottage industries.
SCCI President Babar Iqbal, Vice-President Malik Muhammad Ashraf and Sialkot International Airport Limited director Dr Muhammad Aslam Dar welcomed ADB’s investment for the Sialkot Tanneries Zone.
DEFAULTER GOT FREED: A revenue department’s defaulter was got released from a lock-up by his two accomplices here on Sunday.
Reports said accused Muhammad Boota’s accomplices beat security guard Waris Ali and cut the bars of the lock-up. The accused fled with his aides.
On the deputy district officer’s (revenue) report, the Civil Line police have registered a case.
