KARACHI: Three brothers killed

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 25: Three brothers were axed to death in Kharadar early Sunday allegedly by their uncle and three cousins. Two of the suspects were later arrested from Kashmor while trying to escape, according to the DSP Investigation, Clifton Town, Gul Hameed Samoo.

Police said that Shaukat, 22, Idress, 19, and Liaquat, 17, all labourers at Karim Cloth Market, Kharadar, had gone to sleep at their uncle’s place on the sixth floor of the Daddy Cloth Market. Their 12-year-old brother, Imran, was also accompanying them.

Police said that the victims’ uncle, Namoos Khan, along with his three sons, Mudir Khan, Saghir Khan and Sufor Khan, struck at the place and after overpowering the victims by tying their hands and legs, axed them to death.

Imran, who was on the roof of the building, witnessed the gory incident, but managed to escape from the scene by scaling down the adjacent building. He was chased by the killers in vain.

Police said that the victims hailed from Bajor Agency. They were of the view that some personal enmity might be a motive of their murder.

The body were later shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for postmortem examination.

After collecting information from Imran, the DSP Samoo passed on a massage to the DSP Kashmor for the arrest of the killers.

The DSP told Dawn that passenger buses, which had left Karachi for Northern Area in the morning from Lea Market and Super Highway, were checked.

Consequently, Namoos Khan and Mudir Khan were nabbed by the DSP Kashmor, Faiq Ali Khan, and being brought back to Karachi. Efforts were under way for the arrest of the other absconders, Mr Samoo said.
