Tribal noble, three others killed

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, May 23: Four tribesmen, including the brother of the chief of the Chandio tribe, Nawab Shabbir Ahmed Chandio, were shot dead in a clash over a hunting dispute in the Khirthar mountains on Thursday.

The police said a dispute over hunting ibex had caused the clash in which local People’s Party Parliamentarians’ leader Nawabzada Ali Nawaz Chandio, his gunman Saadullah Marfani, driver Maula Bakhsh alias Nandhro Chandio and a member of the rival party, Rajab Ali Shahani, were killed.

The firing took place in the vicinity of a stream, Sheenhan Nayain, 110 kilometres off here.

The hunting party, led by the Nawabzada, following the footprints of an injured ibex, came upon another hunting party, comprising two men, who had captured the wounded animal.

A dispute over the possession of the ibex led to an exchange of fire between the two parties, leading to the death of the four people.

Chandio tribesmen shifted the body of the Nawabzada to Ghabidero, that of Maula Bakhsh to the Sono Khan Chandio village, the body of Saadullah to Raban Khan Chandio, and Rajab’s to the Kambar taluka hospital.
