CDGK storm into semis


KARACHI, May 23: City District Government Karachi (CDGK) stormed into the semifinal of 12th Hinopak Trophy Inter- firms cricket tournament beating Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) by one wicket in a thriller at UBL Sports Complex on Thursday.

Daniyal Ahsan cracked a match winning 61 with six boundaries in CDGK nail-biting win. Aamir Kaleem slammed 59 with four hits to the boundary.

CDGK reached the target with two balls to spare, scoring 232 for nine in 49.4 overs. Three of CDGK batsmen were run out in a bid to steal some singles.

Earlier KESC mustered 231 for nine wickets in their 50 overs. Jaffer Qureshi struck eight fours in his 69 and Shahid Latif contributed 67 with eight hits to the ropes. Off-spinner Sarwat Ali took three wickets for 40 runs.
