By Dawn Report

SUKKUR, May 23: The chief of the Sindh Democratic Alliance and provincial minister, Imtiaz Shaikh, has criticized the opposition for its policy over the issue of the Legal Framework Order (LFO), terming it as an undemocratic and against the interest of the country.

Speaking at a press conference here on Friday, the SDA chief said it was unfortunate that the opposition welcomed the decision of the Commonwealth regarding the membership of Pakistan.

Rejecting the demand of the opposition about the uniform of the president, the minister defended the stand of the government and said that the international and regional situation required an stable government in the country.

He said that nobody has right to doubt the president who already had announced that he would quit as the army chief at an appropriate time.

The minister said that as compare to previous military rulers the track record of the president Musharraf witnessed that he had fulfilled his all promises. He advised the opposition to review its stand, play positive role and cooperate with the government on this crucial stage when Pakistan and India were trying to hold negotiation to improve their relation.

He also urged the opposition not to create an atmosphere, which helped the enemies of the country.

LARKANA: The president, Sindh Democratic Alliance (SDA), and the provincial minister for population, Imtiaz Ahmad Shaikh, has said that the issue of the LFO was hampering the smooth running of the government in the Centre as well as in the provinces.

He said this while talking to newsmen at the residence of SDA leader Sardar Zafar Ali Khan Sangi here on Thursday night.

He advised the opposition to be reasonable in dealing with the issue of the LFO in the larger interest of democracy and its institutions in the country.

He brushed aside the rumours of there being differences in the coalition or governor rule in Sindh maintaining that the coalition in Sindh was running smoothly and minor differences were only a routine matter in every coalition government.

He said that the SDA would never compromise over any move against the interests of the people of Sindh and would be amongst the forerunners against the movement if any such move was seen.
