SANGHAR, May 23: Seventeen union council Nazims and some members of the Sanghar District Council, belonging to the Awam Dost and the Al-Falah groups, boycotted the district council session here on Thursday.

Later, leaders of the protest, Aziz Ghouri and Faisal Khan Wassan, issued a statement, alleging that District Nazim Roshan Din Junejo had stopped allocation of funds for the union councils.

They demanded of the government to conduct an investigation into the spending of Rs890 million given to the district council.

They alleged the huge amounts were spent on unnecessary schemes without the approval of the district council.

They further alleged that road schemes at the cost million of rupees had been, which led to Otaqs (guest houses) and farms of influential landlords.

They also demanded publication of the report of the chief minister’s inspection team about the affairs of the Sanghar District Council.

They pledged to continue struggle till funds were released to the UCs.
