KARACHI, May 23: Justice Mohammed Ashraf Leghari of High Court of Sindh on Friday put off hearing of a constitutional petition, filed by Hajira Bibi, mother of the alleged detenue Asif Ramzi.
The petitioner, citing high police officials, including IGP Sindh as respondents, maintained that her son was in custody of Karachi police.
AAG Sindh M. M. Pirzada, appearing for the state, expressed ignorance about the alleged illegal detention.
He sought time to get instructions and to locate whether the detenue is in the custody of police or not.
Aamir Mansoob Qureshi, advocate, appearing for the petitioner opposed the adjournment.
The bench, however, after hearing the counsel adjourned further hearing till May 28 directing the respondents to file comments in the petition.
Meanwhile, Justice Zawar Hussain Jaffery of Sindh High Court on Friday ordered TPO Lyari, SHO Kalri and others not to interfere in business of milk wholesale suppliers in Lee Market area.
Petitioners Nazeer Ahmed and others moved the SHC against local milk organization (Nagori) and police for refraining them to carry out their business.
Their counsel Iqbal Gohar submitted that his clients are wholesale suppliers of milk who fetch milk from interior of Sindh including Shikarpur, Larkana, Dadu, Badin since 1970.—APP/PPI
